Hey, Lykkers! Are you ready to join us on an unforgettable adventure in Croatia?
We’ve had some incredible experiences exploring this beautiful country, filled with stunning landscapes, rich history, and delicious local cuisine.
Our journey began in Dubrovnik, often referred to as the Pearl of the Adriatic. As we wandered through the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, we were instantly captivated by the city’s well-preserved medieval architecture and vibrant atmosphere. Walking along the ancient city walls offered breathtaking views of the shimmering Adriatic Sea and the terracotta rooftops that make this city so iconic.
We visited the Fort Lovrijenac, a stunning fortress that overlooks the city. Did you know it’s often referred to as Gibraltar of the East? The fortress provided us with a unique perspective of the city, and we could almost imagine what life was like during its prime. Fort Lovrijenac opens from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM in the summer, and entry costs around 100 HRK (approximately $15).
Next on our itinerary was the breathtaking Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Croatia’s most famous national parks. We couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder as we hiked through the lush greenery, with cascading waterfalls and crystal-clear lakes around every corner. The park is home to a unique system of lakes that change color throughout the seasons, making each visit special.
During our time in the park, we embarked on a scenic boat ride across one of the stunning lakes, allowing us to take in the beauty of the surroundings from a different perspective. It felt like stepping into a fairytale! The park is open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the summer months, and tickets range from 250 HRK (approximately $36) for adults, with discounts for students and children.
As we explored Croatia, we learned a few handy tips to make our journey even better. First, we recommend purchasing tickets for popular attractions online in advance to avoid long queues. This little tip saved us a lot of time, allowing us to spend more moments enjoying the beauty around us.
Another practical tip is to explore local food markets and try some traditional dishes, such as Peka and Riba. We enjoyed sampling local cheeses and fresh seafood, which made for a delightful culinary experience. Additionally, be sure to pack comfortable shoes, as much of the exploration involves walking and hiking.
Our journey through Croatia has been filled with stunning sights and unforgettable moments. From the ancient walls of Dubrovnik to the enchanting landscapes of Plitvice Lakes, we’ve experienced the beauty and culture of this remarkable country. We can’t wait to share more adventures with you, Lykkers, as we continue to explore the world together!
